Welcome to Nederatina. What you taste in our bottles is not just a drink; it is an age-old Kenyan tradition, brewed with pure Dutch craftsmanship. This is our story of craft, passion, and sharing culture.

The apprenticeship years in Kenya
My journey in the world of Muratina began in the heart of Kenya. There, with my feet in the red earth, I apprenticed under the true masters of this craft. They taught me the patience, precision, and secrets of the brewing process.
I learned how to find the perfect balance between sweet honey and fresh sugarcane juice. But more importantly: I learned to work with the Kigelia africana (the fruit of the sausage tree), the indispensable, authentic ingredient that gives Muratina its true soul and characteristic taste. In Kenya, brewing Muratina is much more than following a recipe; it is a ritual, a way to bring people together and celebrate life.
The bridge to the Netherlands: Nederatina
When I decided to continue this beautiful craft in the Netherlands, I knew one thing for sure: I did not want to make any concessions on taste or quality. The name Nederatina is therefore a combination of my two worlds: the Netherlands and Muratina.
Here, I brew every batch entirely by hand. It is intensive manual labor that requires time, attention, and a great deal of love. From selecting the best quality honey to monitoring the natural fermentation process; I do everything according to the traditional methods I was taught in Kenya.

Our Core Values in the Brewing Process
-
Authenticity: Use of traditional Kenyan methods and real Kigelia africana.
-
Craft: 100% manual work, without industrial accelerators or concessions.
-
Quality: Strict selection of premium honey and pure sugarcane juice.
-
Connection: A drink designed to be enjoyed together and to celebrate life.
Respect from the drinkers
What started as a deep-rooted passion has now grown into something I am incredibly proud of. The greatest compliment I receive is the appreciation and respect from the people who drink Nederatina.
Whether it’s people longing for the authentic taste of their homeland, or foodies discovering the rich flavors of Muratina for the first time; the reactions are heartwarming. It fills me with pride that my craft is respected here and that, through Nederatina, I am able to share a piece of the beautiful Kenyan culture.
